Anybody in the Web hosting industry will realize how big the Web hosting business is, especially when a weekly show is dedicated to it. Delivered as a podcast, the Web Hosting Show is quickly gaining momentum as the next source for Web hosting news and information. What exactly is a podcast? Think of a radio show. But instead of listening to it on your radio, you hear it while you’re on the internet.
What exactly makes this show unique to the world of Web hosting? Amidst all of the hosting communities, magazines, Web sites and directories feeding hoards of information to the Web hosting community, the Web Hosting Show is a unique blend of Web hosting news and information delivered in a fun and entertaining manner. Try listening in on one of the shows and you’ll hear a jovial voice with a southern Texas accent. Then perhaps you might be wondering: who is the voice behind the Web Hosting Show?
Mitch Keeler, the executive producer and host of the Web Hosting Show, has a passion for Web hosting that stems from his need and want to help people out. As a contributor to Lockergnome, a resource for people curious about the world of technology, he extends his technology savvy and his natural ambition to provide meaningful and rich information that helps people with their daily interactions of anything related to technology.
The idea behind the Web Hosting Show came to life while Mitch was working on a Web hosting e-book entitled Lockergnome’s Guide to Web Hosting. He realized that he would be able to reach people more effectively with fun content. This brought to life a new way of sharing information about the Web hosting world, and thus, the show was born.
But the Web Hosting Show didn’t come to fruition without its fair share of challenges.
“Some of the first challenges that I faced with the show was the actual hosting of the show’s MP3 files,” explains Mitch. “That is where the folks at Web Hosting Chat really stepped up and told me they would help me with whatever I needed to get this show off the ground. Thankfully I have found a lot of folks like that in the past month that the show has been around. The people at the Web Host Industry Review have also been very supportive as well.”
Mitch is stepping up the promotion of the Web Hosting Show and it is already getting a lot of attention. With the first few shows available for easy listening, including Web hosting news tidbits, a featured Web site and interesting commentary, it is quickly becoming content that Web hosts are listening to and yearning more of on a regular basis. With the show’s informative yet entertaining format, it’s easy to see why many listeners will voraciously consume every new show as it is released.
“I really think the Web hosting business was missing this type of content. I’m happy though to be the one providing it,” Mitch proclaims.
The show encompasses many topics, and because of this it is not exclusive to just Web hosts. According to Mitch, the Web Hosting Show is for everybody who has an open mind and in interest in the Web hosting community. Considering that Web hosting plays a large role and touches upon anything that is literally on the Web, it is easy to see why delivering a show in an audio format makes it a lot more relevant and accessible to anyone who wants to keep up-to-date with the Web hosting world.
Is there a bright future in store for the Web Hosting Show? Mitch thinks there is. As he seeks out new stories and gets interviews with some of the minds of the Web hosting business, he also plans to elaborate on the show’s format by adding segments submitted by contributors who want to add to the show.
But perhaps the ultimate aspiration for the show is to bring to a level where it will be regarded as an industry source for information. “Hopefully the Web Hosting Show’s place in the Web hosting industry will be the same as what Ping! Zine and the Web Host Industry Review have done for Web hosting in the print world. Just about every aspect of the Web hosting business has been covered in one way or another, why should audio be any different?”
Amidst all of the information readily available for the Web hosting community, whether it be in forums, magazines and other resources, Mitch has created something that will definitely be another landmark in the way Web hosting information is delivered. Only time will tell whether or not the Web hosting community will embrace the show and contribute to its success. Nonetheless, Mitch’s strive to deliver information to help people has already sparked interest and a loyal following for the Web Hosting Show, and his effort is clearly an inspiration to all.
